AP calls for inquiry over allegations against President

Adhaalath Party has called for an independent and transparent inquiry into the allegations against Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

Adhaalath Party called for an inquiry into the allegations of corruption, embezzlement, corruption and money laundering against Yameeen in a press statement it used on Thursday.

AP said that lack of action could lead to irrevocable damage to the people of Maldives, the treasury, and the State. And lead to independent institutions of the country being discredited, and the people and the entire nation loosing face.

Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) also called for an independent inquiry after Al-Jazeera’s investigative documentary ‘Stealing Paradise’ was released last Wednesday morning.

Spokesperson for President’s Office, Ibrahim Muaz Ali had denied the allegations made in ‘Stealing Paradise’, and said that the Al-Jazeera investigative team which produced the documentary did not have any proof to back it.
