Broadcasting Commission has advised caution in broadcasting the Al-Jazeera documentary released today, “Stealing Paradise.”
A circular issued by the BroadCom said that they have been receiving complaints and concerns regarding the Al-Jazeera documentary about the Maldives that is now on program guides and widespread on YouTube.
The concerns are, according to the BroadCom, due to some of the content of the documentary that infringe the Anti-Defamation Law and the regulations of the Broadcasting Law.
But the Manager of Customer Experience at MediaNet, Simanaa Ismail told Sun Media today that the BroadCom has not banned or asked not to broadcast the documentary.
BroadCom said that if it is proven that content that infringes the Anti-Defamation Law and the laws and regulations of Broadcasting and Code of Practice has been broadcasted, they would seek legal action.
