Man dies after fall from STO Trade Center

A Maldivian man has died after falling from the fourth floor of State Trading Organization (STO) Trade Center, located near Bandaara Mosque on Wednesday morning.

The incident took place at around 7:30 am.

Police have identified the man as Mohamed Hailam, 35, from M. Enaz in Male’.

Hailam’s family reported that he struggled with mental health problems.

Police information officer Ismail Ali reported that the man had died shortly after being taken to the hospital.

“He was found fallen inside the Trade Center. He had a heartbeat when police arrived at the scene. He dies shortly after he was taken to the hospital,” said Ismail.

STO Trade Center houses a number of private offices. And “Sun” has been informed that Hailam is not an employee of STO.

It is believed that he committed suicide.

STO has refused to make any comment yet.
