Police search for man who vandalized a President Yameen billboard

Police has started searching for a vandal who threw crude oil on a President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom billboard placed at the Artificial Beach.

Police have released CCTV footage of the vandalism asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and arresting the man.

The billboard, placed behind the stage area of Artificial Beach was vandalized in August, but it was quickly cleaned up by officials from Ministry of Housing and Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC).

The Maldives Police Service is appealing for the public’s support in identifying the man caught on CCTV camera, in relation to a case being investigated by General Investigation Department.

The CCTV footage shows two men stopping near the billboard in a motorcycle and the one on the backseat – wearing a t-shirt and shorts getting off the motorcycle and walking towards the billboard.

The other man is seen waiting for him on the motorcycle.

The footage released by police does not show the act of vandalism itself.
