Police enters Canaryge with court order

Maldives Police Service has started a search operation at the local residence of the former President Mohamed Nasheed, Galolhu Canaryge.

Police entered the residence with a court order issued today signed by the Chief Judge of the Criminal Court, Abdul Baree Yousuf.

The court order say that the search of Canaryge is collect evidence that support a Police intelligence report that say a plan is being formed at Canaryge to overthrow the elected government, create conflict between state institutes and the public and bring civil unrest to Malé City.

A tweet sent by the Police said that they searched Canaryge between 8:45 p.m. ad 9:20 p.m. tonight under a court order in relation to an ongoing investigation.

MP for the North Galolhu consitituency, Eva Abdulla, a cousin of President Nasheed, told Sun Media that after the search, Police said that nothing relevant was found from the residence and would be communicating in writing regarding the search.
