Upcoming Eid al-Adha Holidays has stretched domestic flights to the limit, leading to national airline – Maldivian considering increasing the number of domestic flights.
Head of Administration of Island Aviation, Ali Nashaath Hameed spoke to “Sun” on Sunday and said that most of the tickets for flights scheduled in time for the Eid holidays had been sold out over two weeks ago.
“It’s very tight. 90 percent was booked two weeks ago. Now it’s sold,” said Nashaath.
He said that demand for domestic flights to all parts of the country was in high demand, but especially so to Gn. Fuvahmulah, Addu City and L. Kadhdhoo.
Nashaath said that they were considering increasing flights to meet up with the high demand, and were discussing flights to Addu on the Airbus.
“We are trying to meet up with the high demand by increasing flights,” he said.
The Eid holidays are from September 10 to September 14.
