President Nasheed and top officials of his government ordered to pay the state what is owed

Finance Ministry has ordered the top of officials of the Nasheed Presidency, including the former President himself, to pay back to the state what is owed according to the Audit Report.

In a statement publicized by the Finance Ministry, they named seven people including the former President Nasheed, to pay back the money.

They are:

• Former Foreign Minister, Dr. Ahmed Shaheed

• Former Home Minister, Mohamed Shihab

• Former Foreign minister, Ahmed Naseem

• Former Housing Minister, Mohamed Aslam

• Former Commissioner General of Customs, Mohamed Aswan

• Former State Minister of the Islamic Ministry, Sheikh Hussain Rasheed Ahmed

The Finance Ministry said that they have been ordered to pay back the money in seven days. And failure to make the payment would result in pressing charges through the Attorney General.

The Ministry said that they are working to recover the money from the others mentioned in the Audit Report as well.
