Drug smuggler from Feydhoo to Meedhoo sentenced to 12 years

A man who smuggled drugs from Feydhoo, Addu City to Meedho, Addu City has been fined with MVR 75,000 and sentenced to 12 years in prison.

The sentence was passed on the 24-year-old Ali Ahusan from Addu City.

The verdict from the Maradhoo Court said that the man’s confession prove to the court that nine packets of drugs were found in his boxers when he was taken into custody in suspicion of being under the influence when he got off at Maradhoo from a ferry from Feydhoo around 4 p.m. on 14 June 2014.

Maradhoo Court ordered that the fine be paid within one month.
