Commonwealth looks for legal advisor to reform JSC

Commonwealth has announced for a legal advisor from a fellow Commonwealth member-country to assist the Judicial Service Commission as they set out to reform Maldivian judiciary.

Commonwealth made the announcement of Wednesday.

Commonwealth said in the announcement that they needed a legal advisor to assist JSC in their reform process, in order to ensure the independence and integrity of Maldivian judiciary, and ensure that the powers of the State are separate.

The legal advisor hired will need to compile a proposal on all the reforms needed for the Maldivian judiciary.

He/she will be given a monthly salary of 48,400 British Pounds (MVR 983,141).

Anyone from a Commonwealth member-country can apply for the post.

Additional qualifications necessary include experience in working as a judge in a high court, or experience as a lawyer.
