Maldives Getaways sets target for 500,000 tourists in guesthouses by 2020

Maldives Getaways has announced their target to bring 500,000 tourists to the guesthouses in the country by 2020.

The title sponsor of the Guesthouses Maldives Conference2016 is the National bank, Bank of Maldives. Speaking at a press conference at Champa Central Hotel today on the BML Guesthouses Maldives Conference2016, the Business Development Director of Maldives Gateways, Hussain Sunny Umar said that the hopes of achieving that target is very high and if everyone works together, it is not an unattainable target.

Sunny noted that there is a significant demand for the guesthouse industry and it is that demand that raises hope of bringing 500,000 tourists to the guesthouses.

He said that the partners of the Guesthouses Maldives conference are also the strongest travel agencies in the world and if the partners meet the guesthouse owners, talk and exchange ideas at the same floor, it is possible to bring 500,000 tourists.

While the Conference is set for 24 September at Dharubaaruge, over 150 guesthouses have listed to join the conference with over 50 sponsors. Popular travel agencies such as Bookings.com are also joining the BML Guesthouses Maldives Conference 2016.

While the guesthouses target 500,000 tourists by 2020, the guesthouse occupancy rate has been on the rise compared to the resorts since the year 2016 began.
