Azleen elected President of LGA

The new Minister of Home Affairs, Azleen Ahmed has been elected President of Local Government Authority (LGA).

Azleen secured the post with the unanimous vote of all LGA Board members on Sunday.

Article 140 of the Maldivian Constitution says that the Maldivian President needs to assign a

Cabinet minister to LGA to be answerable to People’s Majlis.

He replaces former Minister of Home Affairs, Ahmed Zuhoor, who was assigned to LGA on June 29.

Zuhoor has since been removed from the post of Minister of Home Affairs and assigned Minister of President’s Office.
