Home Minister: Empowering Councils by giving resources has started

Home Minister Azleen Ahmed has said that the government has started empowering the Councils by giving the resources in the region.

Speaking at the “Rannaa Award” ceremony given by the Baa Atoll Council to atoll’s distinguished contributors, Minister Azleen said that the government believes that the regulation to assure development to the people is through empowerment of the Councils and so the government is providing them with the resources.

Minister Azleen said that the government is shaping the atoll and island councils to benefit from the regional resources. The Minister said that 13 projects are underway this year along with different free aid programs.

The Home Minister said that MVR 6 million has been spent so far and assistance would be provided to all of the councils across the country in the future.
