Over 200 nominations have been made to the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) open the south Asian region.
As the nomination period for the High Rise organized event expired yesterday, nominations were made on the different categories including resorts, guest houses, safaris and travel agents.
While awards are set to be given in 39 categories from ten segments, over 200 nominations have been made and the Maldives have nominated in a number of categories.
With nominations in nine categories in the Visitor’s Choice segment at SATA, the only segment the Maldives failed to nominate is in the Leading Heritage Destination.
Over 140 nominated were made from the Maldives in 30 categories of the Self Nominated category.
Only Maldivian companies were nominated in the Leading Liveaboard brand, Leading Liveaboard, Leading Dive Hotel/Resort, Leading Eco-Resort/Hotel and Leading Surf Hotel/Resort categories.
This year’s SATA is being held in association with the Colombo Chamber of Commerce. Partners include the Maldivian Association for Travel Agents (ATA), Liveabord Association of Maldives (LAM) and the India Confederation of Accredited Tour Operators.
The award ceremony is to be held in Colombo this October where ATA would be leading the Maldives.
