Large area of the sea have been searched – elderly still missing

After 48 hours of searching for the missing elderly man from Vaavu atoll Felidhoo, the Island Council has said that the man has not yet been found.

The 76-year-old Ahmed Hassan has been missing from the island since Wednesday. However his glasses and sandals were found in the sea.

President of the Felidhoo Island Council, Hassan Ali told Sun Media today that they have searched the sea surrounding the island and lagoons nearby looking for the man.

“Lagoons and near lagoons have been completely searched by diving, very sure he is in the sea.” The Council President said.

He said that missing elderly man is not a very sick person and he does not go swimming frequently. The Council President said that it is believed that he went to the sea to relieve himself.

Ahmed Hassan, 76, is survived by his wife and seven children along with a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
