Towing accident in Madifushi injures 3, 1 in critical condition

An accident in Th. Madifushi after a winch rope used to haul a boat inland broke, has resulted in injuries to three young men – one of whom is in critical condition.

All three men injured in the incident which took place at around 11 am on Thursday are Maldivian.

Police reported that all three men were badly injured in the incident – but that one of the men was in particularly critical condition.

Police said that arrangements were being made to transport the man to Male’, and that he was being treated at Madifushi Health Center in the meantime.

“He will be taken to Male’ in a sea ambulance shortly. The other two men will be taken to Veymandoo for further treatment in a police speedboat,” said the police.

Police said the incident was now under investigation.

The men injured in the incident are aged 20 years, 21 years and 22 years.
