Kondey Powerhouse robbed, employee bounded

G. A. Kondey Powerhouse was robbed during the graveyard shift on Tuesday, with the employee on duty attacked, bounded and gagged.

Police information officer Ismail Ali reported that the robbery was reported to them at 2:30 am.

The robbers had broken into the safe after attacking and binding the Maldivian man on duty.

“Police are at the scene right now. No arrests have been made yet. The exact amount of money stolen from the safe hasn’t been determined as the investigation is still ongoing,” said Ismail.

Vice President of Kondey Council, Murthalaa Saleem spoke to “Sun” and said that the Council has been informed that two masked robbers had broken into the safe of Kondey Powerhouse after binding the employee on duty with tape.

He said that the Council had been informed the robbers had also physically assaulted the

employee.

“He had a knife to his throat. His two hands were taped back, along with his two feet and mouth.

The employee on duty said that the men who attacked him were taller and more well-built than him, and were dressed similarly.

Murthalaa said that the Powerhouse employee had bruises on his body, but had suffered no serious physical injuries.
