Azleen’s name sent to Committee for approval

Name of new Minister of Home Affairs – Azleen Ahmed has been sent to Government Oversight Committee of People’s Majlis for approval.

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom sent the letter to People’s Majlis this Monday, asking that the Committee make their evaluation and weigh in their decision.

Majlis Speaker Abdulla Maseeh has forwarded the letter to Government Oversight Committee.

Azleen had been working as Deputy Minister at Ministry of Education when he has appointed Minister of Home Affairs on August 1.

Meanwhile, Government Oversight Committee has already provided their backing to Iruthisham Adam – transferred from Ministry of Health to Ministry of Youth and Sports, Abdulla Nazim – appointed Minister of Health, Ahmed Munawwar – appointed Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohamed Asim – appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Aminath Zenysha Shaheed Zaki – appointed Minister of Gender and Family.

The name of Ahmed Zuhoor was also approved by the Committee, but he has now been transferred from Ministry of Home Affairs to a political position at President’s Office.

The Committee report on the 5 Cabinet ministers was read during the Majlis sitting this Monday.
