Authorities have detained an individual who smuggled in 376 grams of heroin into the country.
Customs reported that the individual was caught at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport on August 1. And that he had traveled to Maldives from Pakistan in an Emirates flight.
The individual caught the attention of an airport clearance officer and was x-rayed – upon which 30 bullets were found in his body.
All the bullets tested positive for heroin, and weighed a total 376 grams with the packing.
Customs has not revealed the nationality of the individual.
Customs reported that the authority has conducted 12 major operations to crackdown on drug trafficking so far this year – coming up with over 16.5 kilograms of drugs and 966 methamphetamine pills.
