Riyan hired to design sewerage systems in Henbadhoo, Feridhoo

Riyan Private Limited has been hired to design sewerage systems and prepare tender document for N. Henbadhoo and A. A. Feridhoo.

The contract was signed in a ceremony held at Ministry of Environment and Energy on Wednesday morning.

Riyan has been contracted to complete the task within 6 months.

The contract was signed on behalf of the government by Minister of Environment and Energy, Toriq Ibrahim, and on behalf of Riyan by Managing-Director of the company, Ibrahim Hameez.

MVR 507,000 from Public Sector Investment Program (PSIP) budget will be spent on the work.

Speaking after signing the contract, Minister Toriq said that only water systems were built in only 25 percent of the country and sewerage systems were built only in 37 percent of the country when President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom came to power, and that the rate would be increased to 75 percent by the end of Yameen’s first term – in 2018.

“So far this year, we have completed sewerage systems in 10 islands and water systems in 10 islands,” said Toriq.
