Man fined MVR 8K for snatching police evidence bag

An individual who snatched an evidence bag collected by police from a protest in A. A. Rasdhoo has been fined MVR 8,000.

Rasdhoo Magistrate Court issued the verdict against Ahmed Kamaal, D D Night, Rasdhoo this Tuesday.

The Court ruled that Kamaal was found guilty of snatching an evidence bag which contained a pair of white briefs which had been left hanging in front of the court building on September 25, 2013 – based on witness testimony and evidence.

The Court ordered that Kamaal pay the fine within three months – staring from this Tuesday.

He was charged with obstructing police officers from performing their duty.

The white briefs were left hanging in front of the court during a protest against Supreme Court Judge Ali Hameed in the island.
