Man arrested with drugs hidden in sandals

A man hiding two plastic packets of suspected drugs in his sandals has been arrested in Gaafu Dhaalu Gadhdhoo.

Police said that they arrested a 32-year-old local man around 1:30 p.m. on 21 July during regular patrols of the island due to his suspicious behavior.

The two packets of the suspected drugs were found hidden in the sandals. Police say that the man’s urine was tested positive for two types of drugs.

Gadhdhoo Magistrate Court remanded the man for seven days to be detained at a location designated by the Home Ministry to investigate further.

Gaafu Dhaalu Gadhdhoo Police Station is currently investigating the case.
