Police confiscate MP Ali Hussain’s phone

Police have confiscated the mobile phone of B. Kendhoo MP Ali Hussain for their investigation into a tweet he made last Friday.

The tweet he made on July 22 says that every individual had the right to use their hands on police officers to defend themselves against any officer who may be unlawfully manhandling them.

The lawyer and lawmaker – Ali Hussain was summoned to police headquarters this Monday, and his mobile phone was confiscated by police under court order.

Ali Hussain said that he has been accused of obstructing police officers from performing their duty, and had asked for time to hire a lawyer.

“My phone has been confiscated under court order. They have accused me of obstructing police from performing their duty – in relation to a tweet I made,” said Ali Hussain.

The MP has been asked to present himself to the police headquarters gain next month so that police can take his statement.

Ali Hussain is a member of Jumhoory Party, and is allied with the opposition movement.
