National Meteorological Center has issued yellow alert for Addu City and G. A. Atoll as they forecast bad weather conditions for the area.
NMC forecasted torrential rain and heavy thunderstorms with gusts of 40 miles per hour for Addu City G. A. Atoll, and issued the yellow alert on Thursday morning.
The alert was issued from 11:50 pm to 3 pm.
A yellow alert is issued if the mean wind speed is expected or prevail between 30-40 mph, if torrential rain is expected and if heavy rain occurs for more than 2 hours, if a severe thunderstorm is expected or experienced, if a tropical cyclone is formed within effective areas of Maldives, or if significant tidal or swell waves are expected or experienced.
Concern authorities and people living in the area to be on alert and ready to take action, while travel by sea is not advisable.
