The value of ambergris found by the young man on Eid holiday to H. Dh. Kumundhoo has gone up to MVR 19 million.

The young man, who is married to a woman from Kumundhoo and was walking with the couple’s child along the beach when he spotted the ambergris, said that the item weighed 45 kilos, and that he had gotten an offer from a foreigner who has offered USD 28 per gram – which would amount to MVR 19,429,200 if the offer is accepted.

“It’s an ambergris for sure. A foreign party came to verify it. It will be sol very soon,” said the young man who asked “Sun” to keep his name anonymous.
