Maumoon: Faaris and Naadhira were dismissed in an invalid meeting

President of PPM and former President of the Maldives, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has said that the MP for Dhiggaru constituency, Ahmed Faaris Maumoon and the member of the PPM Council, Aminath Naadhira were dismissed from the party by the Disciplinary Committee at an invalid meeting.

Since the conflict arose within the party, a meeting of the Party’s Council was attempted tonight. The meeting, however, was unable to move forward due to conflicts of opinions.

Speaking to the press tonight, the PPM President said that it was not in a valid meeting that Faaris and Naadhira were dismissed.

Vice President of PPM, Abdul Raheem Abdulla along with a number of members of the party’s council is in attendance at the meeting including the MP for the Dhiggaru constituency, Ahmed Faaris Maumoon and Party Council Member, Aminath Naadhira, who was previously dismissed by the Disciplinary Committee of PPM is also in attendance.

With their participation in the meeting, the supporters of President Yameen in the party have left meeting saying that the meeting cannot proceed with them in attendance.

After the meeting ended, President Maumoon met with the press and said that Faaris and Naadhira were dismissed at a meeting of the Disciplinary Committee with only three of the seven members on the committee and so cannot be deemed valid.
