Strong winds loosen one of the “sails” in Izzuddin Jetty

Strong winds and heavy rain battering the Male’ region of Maldives has loosened one of the “sails” on top of the roof of Izzuddin Jetty in Male’.

The wind loosened one of the three “sails” used is the design of Izzuddin Jetty.

Ibrahim Ziyath, Chief Operating Officer of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) – the company in charge of maintenance work of the jetty said on Saturday that they were discussing how to fix it with Maldives National Defense Force.

“The top part of it unattached with the strong winds. We are discussing with MNDF on how to fix it, since its MNDF’s design,” said Ziyath.

He said that MTCC would meet with MNDF on Saturday itself, and wanted to fix it as soon as possible.

Izzuddin Jetty was built at great cost as part of activities to celebrate 50 years of independence in the country.
