PPM: Faris, Nadhira, Zaidul Ameen still PPM members

Ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has issued a statement saying that the three members removed from the party by Disciplinary Committee were still PPM members, as the

Committee had not followed proper procedure regarding the issue.

Disciplinary Committee had removed Dhiggaru MP Ahmed Faris Maumoon, Council member Aminath Nadhira and City Council member Zaidul Ameen after reviewing disciplinary issuing.

PPM released a press statement on Monday, in which they said that proper procedure regarding submitting a disciplinary issue had not been followed.

“The three members are still members of this party. All party members have the right to submit a disciplinary complaint against any member to party office,” read the statement.

The three members – all loyal to PPM Leader Maumoon Abdul Gayoom – were removed from the party by Disciplinary Committee during a time of conflicts between Maumoon and President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

Disciplinary Committee is dominated by members loyal to President Yameen.
