“Open House Media Week” – aimed at forming closer ties with the media and encouraging judiciary to award media more freedom – is scheduled to start next week.
Judicial Administration has confirmed to “Sun” that the media week will be held from July 17-20.
Legal Officer of Judicial Administration, Faisal said that discussions would be held with media organizations and media-related organizations.
Faisal said that the judiciary would run training sessions and give information regarding court reporters.
Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed announced the decision to hold the Open House Media Week during May, after saying that judiciary needed to be more media-friendly and respect the freedom of press.
“Judiciary needs to be media-friendly, open to media, and respect freedom of press. I call for establishment of an environment where media, organizations that oversee media and judiciary can work together,” said Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed.
