Former President Mohamed Nasheed has said that the current political state of the Maldives calls for an Interim Government.
In a tweet sent out by the Ex-President currently in the UK following a 13-year prison sentence for the unlawful arrest of the Chief Judge of the Criminal Court, he said that a government with all party leaders needs to be formed.
While Nasheed has said this, the governing party PMM is in chaos with disagreements between President Abdulla Yameen and the President of PPM and Former President of Maldives, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. Both have started working separately with their loyal followers.
As the ruling party struggles with internal turmoil, the opposition leaders united in early June to form a coalition by the name of Maldives United Opposition to challenge the government.
