Maumoon strips PPM Deputy Leader of his powers

Leader of ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has stripped Deputy Leader Abdul Raheem Abdulla of his powers.

Abdul Raheem has confirmed to “Sun” that Maumoon stripped away his powers on Wednesday night.

Maumoon declared that he had stripped Abdul Raheem of his powers through a text message. Meaning that the daily administrative work of the party will now be done by Maumoon.

Abdul Raheem was elected Deputy Leader of PPM by the Council in 2013 after the previous Deputy Leader – Ilhaam Ahmed left the party.
