Expat arrested for smuggling drugs

An expatriate smuggling drugs in to the Maldives have been arrested.

Customs said that the drugs were smuggled in by a Bangladeshi national that arrived in the country last night.

The 29-year-old was arrested with 14.37 grams of cannabis found during the search of his luggage when he arrived at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA).

Four more people were arrested in a special operation following the seizing of the drugs.
