The amount received by the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) as Goods and Service Tax (GST) has been increased by 11 percent in the past month.
Statistics from MIRA on last May shows MVR 550.7 million as general GST compared to MVR 491.2 million in May 2015 which is nearly a 48 percent increase.
While general GSTs have increased, the GST from tourism sector has also have risen with MVR 361.8 million last May compared to the MVR 23.6 million of May 2015.
A total of MVR 1.14 billion was received by MIRA last month along with USD 32.9 million.
MIRA statistics also shows MVR 12.3 million in Tourism Land Tax and MVR 75.1 billion in BPT.
And MVr 56.2 million was received as Green Tax.
