Group of people arrested for illegally picking coconuts

A group of people illegally picking coconuts from coconut palm trees in Laamu Gaadhoo have been arrested.

While three men have been arrested in the case, they are a 49-yeat-old local man and two Bangladeshi nationals.

The arrests were made yesterday morning following the information received regarding the matter.

Police said that they found a large number of illegally pick coconuts from the island during their search.

Gaadhoo is an island that have had it’s residents moved to Fonadhoo under the government policy to localize the government.
