Seven parties participated in the information session held at Ministry of Economic Affairs on Tuesday regarding motorcycle taxi services that the ministry plans to start up in Male’.
Director of Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ahmed Aiman Shareef spoke to “Sun” on Wednesday and said that the information session was regarding how to send proposals to provide the service.
Aiman said that the information would also be provided upon request to those who did not attend the session.
Parties that wish to provide motorcycle taxi services have to send their proposals to the ministry on June 22.
Aiman said that the ministry was now deliberating on how many parties would be allowed to run the service in Male’, given the traffic situation.
Even though motorcycle taxi service will initially be set up just in Male’, ministry plans to extend the service to the entire country.
Motorcycle taxi drivers will be required to wear a vest to identify themselves.
