Mosque built by Qasim in Thoddoo inaugurated

Mosque built by famous businessman and politician – Qasim Ibrahim – in A. A. Thoddoo was inaugurated on Monday.

The mosque was inaugurated on Monday – the first day of the holy month of Ramadan – by Hassan Zareer – who is the father of Qasim’s youngest wife.

The 1,800-people mosque is named “Masjid al-Aisha” in honor of Qasim’s youngest wife.

Qasim spoke to the people of Thoddoo after the inauguration, and advised everyone make the best use of the mosque – especially as the Muslim community observes Ramadan.

Afternoon prayer in Masjid al-Aisha was conducted by religious scholar – Sheikh Ilyas Hussein – who gave a sermon, afterwards.

Deputy Minister of Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Ibrahim Mohamed is scheduled to give a sermon at the mosque after evening prayer.

Qasim will also be hosting a special breakfast on Monday for the people of Thoddoo at the island’s school compound in celebration.
