Magistrate of the Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo Court, Ibrahim Rasheed has been indefinitely suspended after his released from Police custody after being arrested with a court order in a drug related charge.
Ibrahim Rasheed was suspended at the Judiciary Service Commission (JSC) meeting today. JSC said that he was suspended under Commission regulation 42 because he has a pending investigation against him.
The 38-year-old Ibrahim Rasheed was arrested on Sunday night. Police said that he was under the influence when he was arrested and suspected packets of drugs were found on the ground near his feet.
He refused to give a urine sample to do a drug test and wet himself.
When he was taken to the Criminal Court to make a decision on his remand, the court said that he was arrested unlawfully and the Police requested the Prosecutor General’s Office to appeal the remand.
PG Office said that the case is being researched and decision on the appeal would be made after it is completed.
