Fareeha re-appointed Chairperson of BML

Fareeha Shareef (H. Yellow Rose) has been reappointed as Chairperson of Bank of Maldives for another term.

Fareeha – the first female chairperson of the bank in its history – was re-appointed to the top position during the first board meeting held on Sunday, after the new Board of Directors was set up during the company’s annual general meeting held on May 28.

Fareeha is a member of BML Board of Directors – appointed by Maldivian government.

Fareeha – who completed her higher studies in the field of finance and accounting, is a senior partner as well as founder member of FJS Associative.

She also worked at audit firms the likes of KPMJ and Adam Smith International.

Before being appointed to BML Board of Directors for the first time in 2015, she served as a board member of Maldives Pension Administration Office for six years.

Commenting on her re-appointment, Fareeha said that she was honored to continue serving as Chairperson of BML, and was looking forward to working together with other board members in moving forward with the bank.

She said that the bank was heading in an upward trajectory.

“When I look at the Bank’s performance, it is of course greatly encouraging to see a strong financial trajectory, an increasingly robust loan book and improving customer service. But undoubtedly the most satisfying aspect of our progress is the huge investment we are making in extending our reach and our services across the country into the heart of the communities we serve,” said Fareeha. “2015 was one of BML’s best ever years and I believe we can look forward to the future with tremendous enthusiasm and confidence.”
