Thieves have broken into the office building of F. Atoll Magoodoo Council and taken away cash amounting to some 600,000 Rufiyaa and a number of other equipments in the building. '
Abdullah Nasir, President of the Council said today that the thieves had entered the office building by breaking their entry through the main door. He said that the cash were kept locked in a safe in the building, and that thieves had broken the safe to take the money out.
“We came to know about the theft today morning around 8:30 am, when we went to office. Cash stolen by the thieves included the wage-money of council employees too,” said Nasir.
Nasir gave details of the equipments taken by the thieves as two laptops, one digital camera and a multimedia projector.
Sub-Inspector Ahmed Shiyam, Police Media Official, said today that a team of police officers had been sent immediately to Magoodoo to conduct investigation of the crime. He did not give any further details.
