Police Posts to be established in 20 islands

Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Areef has decided to establish Police Posts in a number of islands in an effort to expand the services provided by the Police across the country.

Police said that the Commissioner made the decision with the counsel of the Home Minstry and the Executive Board of the Police following a number of requests from the Island Councils and the general public.

Head of the Divisional Operations Command of the Maldives Police Service, Assistant Commissioner Hussain Adam said on the Police website that the work has begun to introduce the Police service in 20 islands and that the Police would be established in those islands next month.

Assistant Commissioner, Hussain Adam said that the officers for the select islands have now been chosen and they would begin the necessary training next week.

Interested officers to work at the Police Posts are chosen within the Police Service by announcing the opening.

Police have now been established at 79 islands across the country.
