Ex-MP Nazim sues Nafiz for USD 35,000

Former Dhiggaru representative at parliament, Ahmed Nazim has sued chairman of Transport Authority Abdul Rasheed Nafiz for USD 35,000 (MVR 539,350).

Civil Court has confirmed to “Sun” that such a case has been filed with them.

“Sun” has been informed that Nazim filed the lawsuit against Nafiz after he failed to pay back a loan of USD 35,000 taken by him.

During dispute settlement stage at court, Nafiz claimed that he had not received the money, while Nazim insisted that he had handed over the USD 35,000 cheque to Nafiz himself. And that he has evidence to prove his claim.

The case has now gone to trial as both sides failed to come to an agreement during dispute settlement stage.

No hearings on the case have been held yet.

Nazim – who was convicted to 25 years in prison for graft – is now in UK after he was given permission to travel to Singapore for medical treatment.
