Shaolin Kung Fu display to be held in Maldives

A Shaolin Kung Fu team from China has arrived in the Maldives to hold a martial arts display in the Maldives. While more members of the team are set to arrive in the Maldives on Wednesday, this is the first Shaolin Kung Fu display in the Maldives.

Maldives-China Trade and Cultural Organization said that the display would be held in Billabong High School at the inauguration of the organization.

The Vice President of the Maldives-China Trade and Cultural Organization, Midhuam Saud told Sun Media that swords and other tools of the martial arts would be used in the Kung Fu display. He said that while the two youngest members of the team of 15 arrived in the Maldives today.

Midhuam has previously visited China to meet with the members of the Shaolin Kung Fu team. He said that Shaolin Kung Fu is the most prominent and popular Kung Fu academy in China right now.

Although a martial arts display is set for the inauguration ceremony of the Maldives-China Trade and Cultural Organization on 18 May, it would be a closed event. The Vice President of the Organization said that they are preparing for a public display of the martial arts but did not give a date as to when that would be.

The Maldives-China Trade and Cultural Organization registered last year had their official inauguration pushed back to hold a grand event according to the organization. They are the first Chinese organization registered in the Maldives.
