Police have decided not to charge former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb for planning the abduction of Swiss millionaire Cristopher Peter Nicola Gro.
Maldives Police Service sent a letter to Adeeb saying that they had not found enough evidence incriminating Adeeb, and had therefore decided not to prosecute him over the abduction.
Cristopher was abducted from his home in Switzerland on September 3, 2015.
The kidnappers had demanded USD 3 million in ransom money, and threatened to kill him if they weren’t paid.
Police suspect that Adeeb of planning and giving instructions to threaten employees of Noomadi Resorts and Residence – a company which Cristopher has shares in.
