Housing Ministry has ordered cafés at the south-west harbor of Malé City to be vacated within three days.
The ministry ordered the cafés to be vacated with the longer time back on 5 and 18 February. But some cafés still remain open.
An announcement issued by the Housing Ministry today said that the cafés must be emptied within 72 hours from 4 p.m. today.
Under an agreement signed between the Ministry and STO in January, a modern food court with parking zones and two toilet rows would be built at south west harbor.
Talking to the press after signing ceremony, Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said that the development of the food courts would make it a good destination.
The Housing Ministry said that the food courts would be developed with kitchens and people can enter from two sides. And two parking areas with rotary system would be established in two areas.
After development, the area is expected to have 25-27 stalls.
The Managing Director of STO, Ahmed Shaheer also spoke in the ceremony saying that the project would be completed in six months. And the food courts would be leased under a system that would be announced at a later date.
