Alcyon Bakery – one of the oldest bakeries in Male’ – has been given permission to re-open the place after it was shut down to issues with hygiene.
Alcyon Power-of-Attorney Mohamed Majdhee Ibrahim said that the bakery would be operational from 4 pm, Monday.
Alcyon bakery was shut down last Thursday after health inspectors had found hygiene below adequate level during inspection on April 20.
Deputy Director-General of Maldives Food and Drug Authority, Thooma Adam said that they had inspected the bakery after a complaint by customer – and found the quality of hygiene in the bakery below adequate level.
Thuma did not go into any details regarding the issues, but said that the bakery had informed them that they had rectified the issues and improved the quality of cleanliness.
Alcyon Bakery is one of the biggest bread suppliers in Male’, supply of bread dropped dramatically after the bakery was shut down.
