2 MTCC air-conditioned ferries grounded over technical issues

Two MTCC "Premier Link" air-conditioned ferries that travel between Male’ and Hulhumale’ have been grounded due to major technical issues.

MTCC media official informed “Sun” on Monday that the two ferries were facing major technical issues, and that a team from MTCC was in Thilafushi, working on resolving the issues.

The official said that they could not say when the issues would be resolved, and ferry travel resumed.

“The work is in progress. Now I don’t know to say if travel will resume tomorrow or next week.

Travel will resume once the issues are resolved," said the official.

MTCC said that other ferries between Male’ and Hulhumale’ remained operational. And that the two air-conditioned ferries being grounded would therefore not cause any disruptions to travel between the two islands.

Air-conditioned ferries between Male’ and Hulhumale’ were launched on March 3.

This is the second time for the ferries to be grounded, with the issue that arose on March 12.
