Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has said that water usage in the capital – Male’ – has increased by 25 percent with the rise in temperature.
MWSC Business Development Manager Hussein Ibrahim told “Sun” on Tuesday that water usage had increased a large percentage due to the warm temperature. And that the increase amounted to 25 percent when compared to water consumption in Male’ on a regular day.
“Water demand is very high as the climate is very warm these days. Water usage by customers is very high,” said Hussein.
Hussein also said that the company had resolved the issues it had earlier with providing water at high pressure.
Met Office has forecasted warm weather until May 22. Temperature has been recorded as high as 35 Degree Celsius in the country – making 2016 the hottest year in recent history.
