Maldivian arrested in Addu businessman murder case

A 24-year-old Maldivian man has been arrested in relation to the case of Addu City, Hithadhoo businessman found murdered in a swamp last Wednesday.

The man was arrested on Thursday, and was approved 15 day remand by Hithadhoo Magistrate Court on Friday.

Abdulla Ali from Buruneege in S. Hithadhoo was a businessman who ran the locally popular convenience store – Two Way.

He was found murdered in a swamp area near Hithadhoo School a couple of hours after he was discovered missing on Wednesday morning.

He was seen by policemen on patrol as late as 3 am in his shop, early Wednesday morning.

One of his family members reported to “Sun” that Ali had bruising around his neck, and that his tongue had been swollen and hanging out of his mouth.
