Yellow alert issued for South as heavy showers expected

Yellow alert has been issued to southern atolls as National Meteorological Center predicts heavy rain in the region on Thursday.

Yellow alert is issued to ask that people be in a state of preparedness and to ask that relevant authorities also be in a state of preparedness for what may happen.

It is not safe to travel if a yellow alert has been issued, and if there is a thunderstorm, strong winds, and possibility of whirlwinds.

Yellow alert has been issued to southern atolls – G. A. Atoll, G. Dh. Atoll, Fuvahmulah and Addu City from 7:45 am to 11:45 am – when the weather is expected to be at its worst.

National Meteorological Center has said that they will be updating the public regarding any changes.
