Appeal hearings for former Prosecutor General Muhuthaz Muhsin’s release was concluded at High Court on Tuesday.
Muhuthaz, who was arrested late Sunday night as part of investigation into the bogus court order that was issued for President Abdulla Yameen’s arrest was released by Criminal Court when he was taken there for his remand hearing.
Police appealed the decision at High Court. And the first appeal hearing was held on Monday night, and ended with the hearing on Tuesday afternoon.
Judge presiding over the case said that a decision would be made on Tuesday, but did not give a specific time on which the decision would be announced.
Judge Ahmed Nihan from G. A. Maamendhoo, who works at A. Dh. Maamingili has also been arrested in relation to the case of the bogus court order. And Criminal Court has granted a remand period of 7 days for police to keep him under arrest as they investigate the case.
President Yameen has said that the bogus court order for his arrest was made to implicate him in Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) corruption scandal.
