China to start feasibility study for Free Trade Agreement with Maldives

Chinese government has said that it would begin feasibility study for Free Trade Agreement with Maldives within 2016.

Chinese newspapers reported that the country’s government would start feasibility study to establish Free Trade Agreements with Maldives, Colombia, India, Nepal, Fiji and Papua New Guinea within 2016.

The country will also be holding discussions with Israeli government to set up a similar agreement, and will also be restarting discussions with Arab countries from Gulf Council.

Business and economic ties between China and Maldives have strengthened recently, with China funding many development projects in Maldives.
